You now see the consequences of irresponsible blogging can include jail time. But no, I'm ... Crime & punishment...

The editing process ensures that we avoid unseen potholes which can lead to lawsuits and (worse) being made a sex slave to the big guy in prison.

In short, editors are the goalkeepers whom writers such as myself sometimes want to tie up, paint with honey and unleash African Killer Ants on.

By the way, I'm not saying that the bloggers are going to be man slaves in prison. I wouldn't know because I've never been incarcerated but I've seen enough US prisons on televison to not want to find out.

Not that I have anything against gay men, mind you. I'm of the same position as our Government. Which is - we're not homophobic, but don't throw a party at Sentosa on or around National Day.

If one drives a Lada, for example, he'll be fined $70. A Mercedes, $7,000. A Porsche - public flogging by guys who lost their women to Porsche drivers.

But I also believe in the punishment be fitting the crime. Is spending a month behind bars for making racially insensitive remarks on a blog (which the author probably just thought was a laugh) too harsh?
